         Precious Pals

We start with a home-made or purchased stuffed animal or doll. Then we knit, crochet, sew, or ? clothing or decoration for the animal or doll. These are given to children in a crisis situation with police intervention so that a child has a comforting item. Last year we gave over 100 of these items to the Riverside Police Department.

Other Projects

We make and collect afghans and quilts to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children via the PROJECT LINUS program.

We have members who coordinate charity knitting for babies born in our local hospitals, chemo hats, items for Russian Orphanages, and US military men and women

Jane Wood Memorial challenge

(More fun than a fundraiser)

Those who wish to participate are given 2 balls of yarn. (1 each of two different colors). They may add no more than one skein of a color of their choice. At the November Saturday meeting all submissions are brought to the meeting. We have a contest and then auction off the items.

Our main fundraiser is an AFGHAN. A pattern(s) are selected and squares of 8 or 12 inches on a side are make by the members. A member puts the squares together and adds a border. Then is is displayed for all to see. Members sell raffle tickets to friends, family, co-workers, etc. At the December Christmas party a ticket stub is drawn and the winning person receives the afghan.
